Cocktails

Cocktails

  • To complement Empire’s culinary menu, a strong emphasis is placed on artisanal cocktails, representing both classic and original recipes. From hand-cut ice to freshly squeezed juices, bitters and the best spirits, Empire relies on top ingredients and technique without the pretense that has become common with modern mixology. A custom barrel program for whiskeys and bourbons and a draft system featuring carbonated cocktails ensures fresh libations every time. Cocktail carts are a signature element as the action and charm behind the bar is brought tableside to guests.

About

About

  • The name Empire is derived from the beginning of Napa’s history when the first commercial building constructed in the county of Napa in 1848 was named the Empire Saloon, which later expanded to include a hotel. A year after opening, the Empire Saloon served as a polling station for the ratification of the state constitution of California, which the United States accepted into the union in 1850.

Beyond the local history, Empire also references the “Empire State” of New York and the Empire State Building in the cosmopolitan hub New York City. The nickname is commonly believed to come from the state’s considerable wealth and resources, easily identifiable to Napa’s own native prosperity and affluence.

Empire opened May 18, 2013 to serve the Napa area with a high-end culinary experience with the ability to transition into a lounge after dinner.

  • Empire is a new kind of dining experience. A contemporary small plates restaurant and lounge located in downtown Napa, it is a vibrant gathering place centered around interaction.

Excellent ingredients are the cornerstone of the palate-pleasing menu, engaging guests to create their own experiences with an accompaniment of artisanal cocktails, fine wines and micro-brewed beers.

Set to the soundtrack of an eclectic mix of music and complemented by an intimate and relaxed setting, Empire seamlessly showcases the trademark Napa charm with a cosmopolitan sophistication.

Design

Empire’s design creates an environment balancing art, engineering and sensuality. Injecting an urban sophistication with notes of federal architecture and art deco, the design is balanced with whimsical references to the old-fashioned western saloon and features deep wood and quarried stone, hallmarks of Napa’s warmth and native personality.

Designed by renowned Bay Area designer Michael Brennan, who has been recognized nationally for his work, including Esquire Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, DFL (Design for Living) and Bon Appetit, Brennan’s portfolio includes more than 40 restaurant projects in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Napa, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He has also been commissioned for public project murals in the Oakland Area, Metreon in San Francisco and the Park La Brae in Los Angeles.
